What is a Leaf?
A leaf is an article that members write and design to add to a CityLeaves City. Every article submitted to CityLeaves has a string emphasis on a given location.
Who can write a Leaf?
Anyone can write a leaf as long as it relates to the city your submitting it to.
How to add a Leaf
To get started writing a leaf find your city and sign up.
Next click add a leaf and you will see a choice of categories to add to, these correspond to the main tabs or sections to the site.
After choosing a category you will now be able to add your content on your chosen topic. A drop down box will allow you to pick a more specific category.
You can then add text, photos, video and maps and combine them to make an awesome Leaf to share with the world.
What if the city I want to write about doesn't exist?
Our future aim is to set up a CityLeaves in every city throughout the world, if there isn't one on the City your interested in writing about and have lots to talk about then let us know, we are always looking for people to start a city and there are huge rewards for those that do.
Starting a CityLeaves city
We ask for a formal request to start any new city and expect a good basis of content to be added by the person/group starting one up. A good basis is essential as a kicking off point to encourage others to join and contribute to it. A role of Head Editor can then be taken on for continual moderation and building of the City. The Head Editor of a city will receive 40% of all revenue for that city whilst maintaining that role. There is no need for web development or design skills, just a strong knowledge of the city, excellent writing skills and an ambitious flair.
Can I write about my business?
Yes. We encourage any businesses in a CityLeaves City to write about their business, its a great platform to promote yourself to a highly location focused market. We do request that businesses write in a way to add value to CityLeaves, yes we allow self promotion, but as long as its informative and in keeping with the look and feel of CityLeaves. In our experience this will actually assist in your success as people often see through a pitch and likely to respond positively to a leaf that has offered genuine value.
Spam
Anything we perceive to be of spam like nature or lacking in value to CityLeaves will either be removed or have recommended changes suggested.
Sharing your Leaf
Sharing is a great way to get your leaf seen by lots of people and spreading the word about your area of interest and city as a whole. The more people that here about CityLeaves the more people join, contribute and the larger each city grows and the greater the city's exposure. More awareness of your city is a great thing on many levels, it encourages things like tourism, business and a greater public engagement in their City!
What can't I write about?
We don't accept content of adult/explicit nature, promotion of drugs, tobacco or anything that is "unsavoury". We also don't encourage any strongly negative Leaves. If you've got nothing nice to say....then don't say it. Concentrate on writing about the positives and soon the bad will be left behind!
